RLI International is a general education program, while most Rotary International training programs are “job-specific”; that is Rotary International trains Rotarians for specific positions such as Club President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Image, Membership, etc.

RLI International is not a President Elect Training Seminar (P.E.T.S.) or any other district training program, but graduates of RLI bring a greatly enhanced background in Rotary when they later attend job-specific programs.

Who Are We?

RLI International is a Joint Project of over 400 Rotary Districts worldwide.

Welcome to your opportunity to “Find Your Passion in Rotary” and hone your leadership skills in your club and in your career. RLI International is a grassroots, multidistrict program whose mission is to strengthen Rotary clubs through quality leadership education.

RLI's Goal

The overriding goal of the RLI's courses for club Rotaractors and Rotarians is to create ENTHUSIASM for Rotary by opening up to them the world of Rotary outside of their own clubs and also showing them the great potential of Rotary service for the benefit of the world that can be furthered with excellent leadership in our clubs.

Our History

Established in 1992, RLI International has become a worldwide organization with divisions in every continent of the Rotary world.

The Role of RLI International

The RLI International plays a vital role in supporting the development of Rotary leadership worldwide. As the central body for the Institute, RLI International is responsible for:
  • Establishing Divisions Around the World
RLI International authorizes and supports the creation of regional divisions—like the Lone Star Division—ensuring that leadership training is accessible to Rotarians and Rotaractors globally.
  • Recommending a Standard Curriculum
To maintain consistency and quality across divisions, RLI International provides a comprehensive master curriculum framework. Each division, in turn, adapts and enhances the content to reflect local needs while aligning with RLI’s core leadership topics and goals.
  • Translating Materials
To make leadership development truly global, RLI International facilitates the translation of training materials into multiple languages, helping overcome barriers to access and participation.
  • Providing a Global Platform for Networking and Best Practices
RLI International connects divisions across regions, offering a platform for collaboration, idea-sharing, and the exchange of best practices. This global network strengthens the impact of leadership training and supports continuous improvement across all divisions.
Through this global coordination, RLI International empowers local divisions to deliver meaningful and high-quality leadership education that strengthens Rotary at every level.

Lone Star RLI's Philosophy

Having leadership skills does not alone assure good Rotary leadership.  An effective Rotaract or Rotary leader must ALSO have Rotary knowledge, perspective about where Rotary has been, where it is now and a vision of what Rotary can be.

Lone Star RLI's Philosophy & Mission

The mission of Lone Star RLI is to have the clubs in the member districts identify those with the potential for future club leadership and send them to Lone Star RLI courses at club expense. All member clubs may send any club Rotarian to Lone Star RLI courses and any Rotarian may attend any course at his/her own initiative.

Interactive Learning

Lone Star RLI builds effective emerging & seasoned leaders by helping them develop dynamic skills that translate to professional and leadership development.

Lone Star RLI believes strongly in the facilitation of discussion method of learning. It has been proven that facilitation of discussion is the most effective way to educate adult learners.

Our courses are designed to provide Rotary knowledge and to develop leadership skills for voluntary organizations beyond Rotary.

Lone Star RLI also believes strongly in small class sizes, between 8 and 20 maximum.   15 is ideal. This leads to more effective participation by all attendees.

Lone Star RLI's Curriculum Is Taught By Our Trained & Certified Facilitators

Our trainers are called Facilitators which will share experiences and engage Rotaractors & Rotarians about how to move beyond simply “managing” to truly leading their club by building effective leaders.

Techniques used by our Facilitators include discussion groups, role-playing, problem solving workshops, creating projects, and audiovisual presentations. Everyone participates during the sessions. A participant guide workbook, containing the course material is provided to each attendee.
